You Will Always Harvest What You Plant
23 July 2014
What do these various scenarios have in common?
I'm not a very touchy-feely guy — I tend to see things in terms of black or white. While I do think I can have genuine sympathy for TRUE victims — those who suffer because of someone else's bad choices — it's really hard for me to feel much sympathy for people in the scenarios listed above. They have made their bed, and now they have to lie in it! Am I supposed to feel sorry for them? They are simply experiencing one of the laws of real life: there are consequences for your actions. This is how God designed the world to work.
The Bible expresses this concept in these words:
Don't be misled — you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. (Galatians 6:7-8)Do you want to escape the consequences of the above scenarios? It's easy! Stop smoking! Stop eating junk food! Stop abusing illegal drugs and alcohol! Stop indulging in sexual immorality! Stop seeking thrills in fast planes and cars!
Unable to handle such simple logic, the "Palestinians," world governments, and the media all bitch and moan about the nasty consequences of the evil choices the "Palestinians'" have been making for years:
"They have planted the wind and will harvest the whirlwind" (Hosea 8:7). I'm so sorry, "Palestinians," but there is an inexorable law of existence which dictates that you harvest what you plant! If you don't like the harvest you're getting, maybe it's time to start planting something else!
God's warning for the Jews in the Old Testament is equally valid for the "Palestinians" today:
Yahweh, that He may come and shower righteousness upon you. But you have cultivated wickedness and harvested a thriving crop of sins. You have eaten the fruit of lies — trusting in your military might, believing that great armies could make your nation safe. Now the terrors of war will rise among your people. All your fortifications will fall, just as when Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel. Even mothers and children were dashed to death there. You will share that fate...." (Hosea 10:12-15a)For the Muslim "Palestinians," the answers are not at all hard to grasp. Stop hating Jews and seeking to destroy Israel! Elect politicians who truly have your best interests at heart, and not those who merely want to use you for their evil schemes! Turn your back on the demonic-impostor-god Allah — a god who hates — and follow Isa (Yeshua, Jesus) instead, the God who loves you and died to save your souls!
The God of the Bible, Yahweh, the God of Israel, the Father of Yeshua — this God did not rejoice when Osama Bin Laden was murdered. He does NOT rejoice when innocent "Palestinians" are killed. He does NOT even rejoice when GUILTY "Palestinians" are killed!
This is God's heart and urgent message for the "Palestinians:"
Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? says the Sovereign Yahweh. Of course not! I want them to turn from their wicked ways and live. I will judge each of you according to your actions, says the Sovereign Yahweh. Repent, and turn from your sins. Don't let them destroy you! Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die? I don't want you to die, says the Sovereign Yahweh. Turn back and live! (Ezekiel 18:23,20-32)You can read more of my analysis of the 2014 Gaza crisis on my Brian's Bits Web site in a series of articles starting with Violence and Victory Under the Old Covenant.
As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Yahweh, I take no pleasure in the death of wicked people. I only want them to turn from their wicked ways so they can live. Turn! Turn from your wickedness! Why should you die? If wicked people turn from their wickedness and do what is just and right, they will live.... I judge each of you according to your deeds. (Ezekiel 33:11,19,20b)
