This morning another fine example of your Islamic future struck me like a punch in the gut. Top and center on CNN.com was this photo and the headline: Taliban justice demands nose, ears. Here is a summary of the story that 19-year-old Bibi Aisha tells:

When she was just 8 years old, she was engaged to a man in a rival family as a way to settle a dispute. At age 16 she was handed over to her husband's father and 10 brothers; her husband was off fighting in Pakistan. For two years she was their prisoner, tortured and abused.

Finally Aisha couldn't take it any more, so she ran away. Eventually she was stopped by the police and locked up. Her three-year sentence was reduced to five months after a presidential pardon. But her father-in-law found her and took her back home.

Then she finally met her husband for the first time, who took her to Taliban court for dishonoring his family and bringing them shame. The court ruled that her nose and ears must be cut off, a sentence which her husband carried out, leaving her to die in the mountains.

This is just one example of "justice" under Islamic Shari'ah law. In case you are not familiar with this term, Shari’ah is the comprehensive body of Islamic laws that should regulate the public and private aspects of the lives of the Muslims — a system of divine law, way of belief and practice. The legal systems of most Muslim countries are influenced by Shari'ah to some extent or another, but it is most strictly implemented in Saudi Arabia and Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

Shari'ah is also making great inroads into Europe, which we don't have time to document here. German Islamic leader Shaker Assem has said, "People who say there is a conflict between Shari'ah and Western democracy are right." And in the United States, Muslim leaders have been making statements like:

• "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Qur'an should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth."
• "Muslims in America are in the best position to show Islam and to show action and to show vision, not only for a Muslim school how it should be run, but for the entire society — how it should be run. Who better can lead America than Muslims?"
• "I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future."
• "Every Muslim who is honest would say, I would like to see America become a Muslim country ruled by Islamic law ... What a great victory it will be for Islam to have this country in the fold and ranks of the Muslims."
• "Ultimately we can never be full citizens of this country because there is no way we can be fully committed to the institutions and ideologies of this country"

Meanwhile, back in Afghanistan, the United Nations estimates that nearly 90 percent of Afghanistan's women suffer from some sort of domestic abuse.

In 1985, the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations declared: "The very concept of human rights was 'a Judeo-Christian invention' and inadmissible in Islam ... According to Ayatollah Khomeini, one of the shah's 'most despicable sins' was the fact that Iran was one of the original group of nations that drafted and approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights."

So there you have it. Human rights is a Judeo-Christian invention that is totally rejected by Islam, and Muslim leaders in the United States want this country to become a nation ruled by Islamic law. It appears that your Islamic future is going to be filled with a lot more noseless and earless faces.
